Bugatti's Final Run

International Champion Bugatti DCAT

When we brought Bugatti to her first FastCAT trial she did what many dogs do, she stood and watched the lure as it was pulled down the course.  It took a few more runs before it “clicked”, from that point on she was addicted to chasing the white trash bag. At the end of 2023, Bugatti was ranked as the #1 fastest Cane Corso in The United States.  Her three fastest runs averaged 27.54 miles per hour.  She is currently ranked #6 all-time. Going into 2024 she needed just over 30 points to finish her DCAT.

Bugatti started her FastCAT “career” with the Salina Kennel Club.  They were the first kennel club in the state to host FastCAT events and we were and still are very grateful to them for all they have done for the sport in the State of Kansas.  Bugatti eventually earned her BCAT through the Salina Kennel Club and we were excited when the Wichita Kennel Club began hosting events that were essentially right in our backyard.

If you have been participating in FastCAT over the past few years, you are aware that the popularity of the event has exploded.  There were times when you’d have to travel out of state to find a full event, most of the events in Kansas were just starting so there weren’t many dogs competing.  Unfortunately, with the tremendous growth in popularity comes many negative items which we will not go into detail about in this blog post.

Bugatti's DCAT Rosette

On Saturday, April 13th, 2024, we took Bugatti and Narco to compete in the FastCAT trial hosted by the Oklahoma Green County French Bulldog Club, outside of Chandler Oklahoma.  The Wichita Kennel Club was hosting trials the same weekend, but it was time for a change of scenery.  To say the drive to Oklahoma was worth it is an understatement.  The event was hosted and run by a group of professional, friendly dog lovers.  The Course was run with efficiency, we were scheduled for the 10 AM flight and we were in and out of there by 11 AM.  If you’re thinking about making the drive, we recommend it.  It was great to meet new friends and see a few familiar faces from past FastCAT events.

At the end of the day, Bugatti completed her two runs and earned her DCAT.  It is unlikely that we will enter Bugatti in a future event, she has been officially retired from FastCAT.
